Man United join Arsenal in the hunt for French midfielder

Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Napoli in the hunt for talented French midfielder Maxime Gonalons, according to talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old has spent his entire career at Lyon, although he came close to joining Napoli during the last January transfer window.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is thought to be a long term admirer, and now it appears David Moyes has registered an interest as he looks to strengthen Manchester United’s midfield in the summer.

Gonalons has been a first team regular for Lyon since making his debut in 2009, but the financial situation at the Ligue 1 club means they may be forced to cash in on the midfield anchorman this summer.

The midfielder has previously admitted he would be open to a move to Naples, although that may change now Manchester United have joined the race.

Arsene Wenger has been a known admirer of his fellow countryman, and may well reignite his interest in the summer, with the club set to spend big to create a squad capable of seriously challenging for the Premier League and Champions League after watching yet another campaign tail off before Easter.
