Man United set to rival Barcelona for Paraguay ace

Manchester United have joined Barcelona in the race for Olimpia Asuncion wonderkid Blas Miguel Riveros as they look to reinforce their ranks, O Jogo reports.

The 18-year-old caught the eye of a host of European giants after recently being called up to the Paraguay national team by manager Ramon Diaz for their upcoming fixtures.

Apart from the two mentioned sides, Portuguese giants Benfica are also being linked with a move for the highly rated left-back.

United boss Louis van Gaal has been in the market for a new full-back ever since the January window given injuries to a number of their key players in the role.

Benfica are said to have already opened talks with Olimpia in their efforts to beat both the Red Devils as well as Barcelona to the signature of the defender.

Given heavy interest in his services, Riveros could be on the move during the upcoming window and is believed to be available for around the £1.1million region.
