A goalkeeper must’ve put in one hell of a performance to come out of a 3-0 victory for his side as Man of the Match but that is exactly what Manchester United’s David de Gea did against Liverpool is the big Super Sunday clash.
The Spanish international has been in incredible form this season – in fairness, he has probably been United’s best player in the whole post-Sir Alex Ferguson era – and is unrecognisable to the man that first rocked up from Atletico Madrid.
A string of top performances have seen de Gea claim the plaudits and rumours have surfaced that the shot-stopper may well be on his way back to La Liga with Carlo Ancelotti hoping to secure the Spaniard’s services as the long-term replacement to Iker Casillas.
de Gea thwarted Liverpool on no fewer than eight occassions on Sunday, making it the joint highest number of saves in a game this season. However, de Gea has now achieved that feat twice.
