Manchester United could still lose Darren Fletcher this January after Sam Allardyce revealed his move to West Ham United could still happen, the Daily Star reports.
As well as the Hammers, West Bromwich Albion have also been monitoring his situation and are still hopeful of luring the experienced midfielder to the the Hawthorns.
But despite the current transfer window closing on Monday night, Allardyce has played up the possibility of a deal being completing before the 11pm deadline.
He said: “It’s still a possibility. But it’s not absolutely certain.
“We’d like a quality player of Darren’s talent, if that’s at all possible, but if it doesn’t happen, we’re not in a position where we desperately need players.”
The Scottish player has been plagued by injuries as well as a serious illness, which left him sideline for around three years and almost forced him to end his career.
He had a huge role during pre-season for the Red Devils, but as the campaign has worn on his role has become very limited, starting only four Premier League matches from a possible 22 so far.
