Man United still reaping the rewards for Chelsea’s decision

That reaction pretty much sums up all football fans’ reactions to the opening few minutes of the second-half between Liverpool and Manchester United.

Our jaws had barely come up from the floor following Steven Gerrard’s sending off seconds after coming on at half-time, when Juan Mata’s wonderfully audacious scissor kick attempt found the back of the net to leave us all speechless.

The technique, execution and all round end product was phenomenal as Man United fans were living out their dream game against Liverpool – well, until Daniel Sturridge gave Liverpool a lifeline.

Mata’s time at United has seen the Spanish international very much in and out of favour with Louis van Gaal, however, with the footballing world it has always baffled that the former Valencia man isn’t one of the first names on the teamsheet.

It still baffles all of us – minus Chelsea fans – that Jose Mourinho believed Oscar to be the greater player and was happy to sell Mata to a direct rival.

Man United fans will continue to love Mata if these moments continue!
