Man United v Southampton – Confirmed starting XIs

Man United’s reputation of being boring were enforced last weekend, even if they did managed to come away with all three points with a smash and grab 1-0 win over Liverpool.

However, behind all the ‘boring, boring Man United’ chants is a side that still sits just two points off the top four and with an outside chance of challenging for the title.

But van Gaal will need to get his side firing on all cylinders if they are to make those dreams a reality, and the fact they’ve only scored one first half goal in their last nine Premier League games at Old Trafford doesn’t particularly bode well.

Ronald Koeman’s Southampton won this fixture last season and will be looking to make it three consecutive Premier League victories this weekend, having comfortably brushed aside Watford and West Brom 2-0 and 3-0 in recent weeks respectively.

The Saints will also be boosted by the arrival of striker Charlie Austin, who arrived from QPR last week, and he might just be the man to fire Southampton right back in to the race for Europa League football.

Here are the confirmed starting XIs for both sides…
