In a weekend full of important derbies across the United Kingdom as Newcastle United took on Sunderland earlier in the day at St. James Park and Dundee v Dundee United finished 2-2 thanks to a last minute winner for Billy McKay, the Manchester derby between Manchester City and Manchester United will prove to a fantastic spectacle.
Both City and United could potentially end the year with different managers in charge for next season. As Pep Guardiola will arrive at the blue side of Manchester replacing Manuel Pellegrini, Louis Van Gaal’s future is still in doubt on the red side, meaning both will want a last chance to claim a scalp over their fierce rivals.
In terms of the Red devils getting something from this much anticipated encounter, the odds are stacked against them as United have won just one of their last eight Barclays Premier League away games and haven’t lost three successive league games away at Manchester City since 1955.

The thorn in United’s side will most probably be Sergio Aguero. The Argentine has scored seven goals in seven Premier League games against Manchester United and only five players have scored more against the Red Devils in Premier League history.

However, both sides have injuries to contend with. City will be without Kevin de Bruyne, Fabian Delph, Samir Nasri and Captain Vincent Kompany while United have Phil Jones, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Ander Herrera and Captain Wayne Rooney unavailable.
