Manchester City record signing Kevin De Bruyne has sensationally lifted the lid on his frustrating time as a Chelsea player, according to the Daily Star.
The Belgian playmaker failed to make the grade in West London under former boss Jose Mourinho and was sold to Wolfsburg in January 2014 for around £18m.
However, just 18 months later the Etihad outfit saw fit to splash £55m to lure the 24-year old back to these shores after he had blossomed into one of the finest players in the Bundesliga.
The Stamford Bridge club scouted him as a youngster while the Genk in his homeland, though the Belgium international made just three senior league appearances.
Now, he has revealed the relatively low fee of £7m Chelsea shelled out for him in 2012 was part of the reason he spent most of his Blues career watching from the sidelines.
‘I would have played more at Chelsea had they paid as much as City did for me’, stated the ex-Werder Bremen loan star.
‘It make a huge difference.’
‘That’s the way things work in business.’
