Argentine ace dismisses Man City link after becoming record breaker

Lionel Messi has once again dismissed speculation of a move to Manchester City by insisting he wants to finish his career at Barcelona, according to the Express.

Messi became the clubs highest ever goal scorer after netting a hat trick in the 7-0 thrashing of Osasuna, surpassing the previous record held by Paulino Alcantara.

The Argentine now holds the new record with a staggering 371 goals.

And after breaking the club record, the 26-year-old reiterated his desire to stay with the Spanish giants for the remainder of his career, despite strong interest from Manchester City.

He said: “I intend to retire here at Barcelona.

“As long as people want me, I will stay, I am happy here.”

Barcelona currently sit third in La Liga, four points behind leaders Real Madrid, although they are through to the quarter finals of the Champions League.

“I am very proud at being in the history of such an important and big club,” Messi added.

“The important thing is that this team keeps on making history, this group has been doing wonderful things, winning everything, and deserves to keep on doing important things.”
