Arsenal free to seal transfer business as Everton & Man City deal fades

According to reports from The Liverpool Echo, Everton are not in the race to sign Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony.

The Toffees have been linked with the Ivory Coast international for much of the summer transfer window, with The Sun and Mirror Football recently documenting their interest.

Toffees manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed the club are in the market for another centre-forward, but The Liverpool Echo claim they’re not targeting the Citizens assassin.

That leaves Arsenal in pole position to sign the 27-year-old, after The Daily Star revealed on Wednesday that the Gunners are preparing a £30million bid for the former Swansea City man.

Bony has endured a torrid spell at the Etihad Stadium, bagging just six Premier League goals in 18 months.

But the 6 foot 2 striker proved his Premier League potency with the Swans, producing a return of 35 goals in 70 appearances for the Welsh outfit before moving to Eastlands in January 2015.
