The Spaniards are believed to be in the market for additions during the next transfer window, and see the Premier League champions’ star duo as perfect signings.
Barca are thought to be looking to keep David Villa and swoop for Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, but should their plans fail, Aguero and Kompany are seen as ideal alternatives.
With first-team football far from guaranteed at the Nou Camp, Villa could elect to move on at the end of the current campaign.
The Catalans are said to want to keep the prolific forward for at least another year, but could be willing to allow him to leave, with Arsenal interested.
Aguero is seen as his heir by some members of the Barca hierarchy, and could fit their style of play.
Meanwhile, Hummels is their number one transfer target, but with his current employers far from keen to sell, a deal may be impossible.
With Carles Puyol’s playing days ticking toward their end, Kompany would be a good long-term partner for Gerard Pique, and provide some welcome depth in defensive positions for the next few seasons.
City will fight to keep the duo, but may allow them to move on should they express a desire to do so.
