Chelsea man slammed by disgruntled Man City star

The early season clash of the title contenders on Sunday afternoon certainly lived up to its billing.

After the eight-goal thriller between Leicester City and Manchester United earlier on in the day, the pressure was on for table toppers Chelsea and title holders Manchester City to bring the weekend’s football to an entertaining conclusion.

While Chelsea legend Frank Lampard’s 85th minute equaliser – for Manchester City – ensured that the game ended in the most incredible of ways, another major talking point of the game was Manchester City full-back Pablo Zabaleta’s late challenge on Chelsea striker Diego Costa which led to the Man City man’s dismissal.

Taking to Twitter after the game, Zabaleta was in apologetic mood after his sending off meant that his side were at a disadvantage for a large period of the second half.

However, the Argentinian’s last words on the matter were directed at Costa, who Zabaleta believed should have also been shown the red card, posting a snapshot of the Spanish international grabbing his throat after angrily reacting to Zabaleta’s tackle.

It’s hard to argue with Zabaleta, and Costa may consider himself a lucky man for avoiding the same fate as the Argentinian.

One thing’s for sure though, the next clash between these two title favourites – especially if Zabaleta and Costa are on the field – should be a feisty affair.
