The weekend's big fixture was at the Etihad stadium between Manchester City and Arsenal. Living up to the hype, it was an engrossing encounter from start to finish.

It was Guardiola's side who came out on top, piling misery on Arsenal and the travelling fans.

A sensational second half comeback blew Wenger's team away, who had nothing to offer apart from Theo Walcott's smart finish in the opening minutes.

Leroy Sane, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling in particular impressed for City who were missing key first team players in Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho.

The win puts City into second place and 7 points behind Chelsea.

For Arsenal, they are now struggling to keep pace in the title race. They had been unbeaten since the opening day prior to this week but two defeats in a row has seen their season hit the buffers and they have a lot of work to do to get back on track.

Here are FIVE pictures from the match that summed up the action...

This classy finish in the fifth minute should've been enough of a platform for Arsenal to go on and win. Theo Walcott's 11th of the season looked destined to pile more pressure on Pep Guardiola.

Walcott has been one of Arsenal's most reliable players this season and proved it again here. It's not Arsenal's attacking form that has been their downfall recently though...

Finally Sane produces

Before Leroy Sane slotted this effort home just after half-time things were looking grim for City. It was Sane's first goal in City colours, a long overdue contribution.

Many City fans had been wondering whether he would make the grade at the club but will have been delighted with his efforts. He was one of their top performers, at times giving the Arsenal defence a torrid time.

Sterling shines

Raheem Sterling's beautiful finish brought the Etihad alive. City had been knocking on the door since the Sane equalised but this smashed it down.

It was his 6th goal of the season but his first since September and City fans will be hoping that ending the drought, he has turned a corner and can hit a rich vein of form once again.

When's on top form defences find him almost unplayable and such form would mean that the Citizens no doubt see an upturn in results.

Guardiola's relief

This result takes massive pressure off of Pep Guardiola who had been under increasing fire both from the media and the City support.

His happiness was clear to see at full-time. Whatever he said at half-time deserves massive credit. His team came out with a real desire and hunger to get a result, something that has been missing from his side for a number of weeks now.

Can they now go on an extended winning run?

Wenger's frustration

Two defeats in a row from winning positions means Arsenal have been the architects of their own demise once again. This time last week the Gunners were sitting pretty and well poised to challenge Chelsea at the top.

Now there's serious doubts about their ability to compete with the rest around them and things need to improve defensively or they risk dropping out of the top four positions.

Wenger cut a figure of frustration in the second half, seeing his side slip to defeat with little resistance.
