Former Man City boss ready to raid old club for tough-tackling defender

Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is prepared to turn to his old club in the transfer market as he looks to strengthen the defence of his current employers Inter Milan, with City centre-back Matija Nastasic his prime target.

Nastasic has struggled with injuries at Eastlands and is currently behind Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala in the pecking order in central defence. The 21 year-old – who joined City from Fiorentina in 2012 – hasn’t made a single league appearance this season and could be tempted to make a fresh start under his former manager at the San Siro.

Inter would be looking for an initial loan deal in January with a view to a permanent deal if the Serbian defender impresses.

Given that Nastasic enjoyed his longest spell in the Manchester City first team under Mancini, he may feel that a move to the Serie A would be the right one to further his own career.
