Yaya Toure has endured a dramatic season with Manchester City this term, with the Ivorian looking out of the pecking order before re-establishing himself in the eyes of Pep Guardiola and becoming a part of the Citizens squad once again.
Toure had previously been a key-part of Manchester City’s two title winning campaigns but, at the age of 33, he’s coming to the end of his years at the top of the game.
Returning to the squad in recent weeks to help City overcome the likes of Watford, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Arsenal, Toure has returned to be a big part of Guardiola’s side. However, the Catalan boss has admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds for the African star.
Quoted by The Independent, Guardiola said:
“I have no answer to that question. I know he finishes his contract. Now we have time to discuss that. What I am impressed by most is his huge quality. He looks like a boy. He played awesome. It is not in terms of when he has the ball but the personality. Yaya plays at that level because he is fit and focused. He is an exceptional player.”
Previously, Toure was regarded to be likely to leave the club in the January transfer window but, with the situation having changed, expect to see Toure remain in the starting line-up.
