Pep Guardiola is confident he has sealed the £50m transfer of John Stones for Manchester City this summer, according to the Sun.
Though the Everton centre-back has seen his stock plummet since Chelsea’ infamous chase of him last year, the 22-year old remains a top talent.
With the City backline in desperate need of reshaping, the incoming Spanish coach is said to have made the England star a priority.
He missed out of Atletico Bilbao ace Aymeric Laporte, who penned a new deal in the Basque country, making the ex-Barnsley youngster his main target.
While the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach is said to be confident over the £50m deal, neither the Blues or Manchester United are thought to have yet thrown in the towel.
Veteran defender Martin Demichellis is believed to be on his way out of the club, while skipper Vincent Kompany has suffered persistent injuries over the past few seasons.
