Guardiola demands eye-watering transfer warchest to kick off Man City reign

According to reports from Mirror Football, incoming manager Pep Guardiola has told Manchester City he needs a £200million transfer budget.

The Bayern Munich boss believes the Citizens need a drastic overhaul of their first-team squad that the club expect to take two summer transfer windows to execute fully.

Just three current players are seen as guaranteed starters under Guardiola – striker Sergio Aguero, club-record signing Kevin de Bruyne and box-to-box midfielder Fernandinho.

And Guardiola believes the starting Xi needs eight new additions to be competitive in the Premier League title race, after the Citizens finished the 2015/16 season in fourth place.

The Spaniard reckons his intended signings would set City back a whopping £200million, with his targets worth over £25million apiece.

Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan looks set to be the first signing of Guardiola’s reign at the Etihad and a £20million deal for the German international is said to be already in the pipeline.
