Huge boost for Man City as crocked captain returns for Boxing Day bash

Manchester City have been handed a huge injury boost in the shape of Vincent Kompany as the Belgian defender could return for tomorrow’s game with Sunderland, report Sky Sports.

The Manchester giants have lost ground in the title race due to recent results, but the return of their skipper is likely to give them a huge boost.

Having not played since the goalless draw with Aston Villa in early November, the 29-year old has been sorely missed at the heart of the club’s backline.

Without his stoic presence at the centre of defence, expensive signings Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi appear to crumble with ease.

However, the fact the Belgian ace is in contention for the Boxing Day clash, as well as Pablo Zabaleta, will give the team a huge boost.

‘Pablo Zabaleta, Fernando and Vincent Kompany have all worked with the squad normally. We’ll see the starting XI on Saturday, I have not decided my team yet’, revealed manager Manuel Pellegrini.
