When taking a delve into the batch of youngsters on the fringes of Pep Guardiola's plans at Manchester City, Phil Foden is inevitably the name that stands out most. There's simply so much hype surrounding the 18-year-old and alongside some cameo displays last term, he's shown glimpses of his potential once again in pre-season.

But in truth, Eric Garcia has probably been the standout performer during City's preparation tour of America and looks like a real prospect at centre-half. With competition for a central defensive starting berth already fierce at the Eithad Stadium though, Sunday's curtain raiser represents probably his last chance to really force his way into Guardiola's thoughts for the remainder of the campaign.

Aymeric Laporte wasn't selected for the World Cup by France and he's already featured in pre-season, while Vincent Kompany and John Stones could be available for Sunday as well after both reaching the semi-finals of the tournament in Russia. Having missed the tour of America, they'll be desperate to get back on the pitch and really reacquaint themselves with this City team.

So, City fans, would you overlook some of the more senior personnel in need of game-time to give Garcia another chance to prove himself, this time against Premier League opposition? Let us know by voting below...
