Creative midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is a potential inclusion for Manchester City when Sean Dyche brings Burnley to the Etihad Stadium.

Saturday afternoon’s match at home to the mid-table side would be the 68-cap Belgium international’s first match since the opening day of the season, when he featured for half an hour against Arsenal.

The 27-year-old came on as a second half substitute in the 2-0 away win at the Emirates, replacing summer signing Riyad Mahrez.

De Bruyne featured heavily down the left hand channel in the opening day win upon his inclusion, but a torn knee ligament has kept the star from shining ever since.

At present, Premier Injuries place the 5 foot 11 star at a 50% chance of featuring against Burnley, having been back in training since October 1.

Bernardo Silva to suffer

De Bruyne has established himself as one of the best creative midfielders in world football let alone the Premier League since his arrival in Manchester.

At 27, City’s number 17 also has a long spell of his career remaining so it is unlikely Pep Guardiola will happily see his playmaker depart for pastures new elsewhere, but in the absence of a midfielder adept across the attacking roles Bernardo Silva has had a chance to flourish and prove his worth to the Citizens.

Like De Bruyne, Silva is capable of playing centrally as well as wide left or right in an attacking midfield role and has so far been utilised in two of those positions this season.

David Silva only betters the Portuguese’s average form rating in the league amongst the Sky Blues' midfield roster, according to WhoScored, with the ex-Monaco man edging the likes of Fernandinho and Ilkay Gundogan.

Bring the best out of Mahrez and Sane

Despite coming on for Mahrez on the opening day of the season, De Bruyne can bring the best out of the Algerian upon his return to action.

The Belgian's vision can help Mahrez flourish on the Citizens' right wing, like Leroy Sane was able to produce last season from the left.

So far this season, neither the Algerian nor German winger have flourished for City, and now face the prospect of a backup role to Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva unless they recover their respective forms. De Bruyne though, could play a crucial part in that.
