Angered, shocked and disheartened. Manchester City fans had a mix of different feelings after their biggest loss of the season. Pep Guardiola's tactics could not do much about keeping Liverpool's attack quiet as the Sky Blues slumped to a 3-0 defeat in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

City, only one win away from sealing the Premier League title, were wrapped up in just about 30 minutes at Anfield. Perhaps City went into the game overconfident of coming home with a win, or perhaps they could not adjust to the atmosphere at Anfield.

It was a loss at the end of 90 minutes, but not just any loss. It was in a European game, against a local side, and against the only team they have lost to in the Premier League this season. With whatever's done now, Guardiola and his men need to keep their heads in place as there is another big match coming up this week - the Manchester derby. City are to host cross-town rivals United on Saturday where a win will guarantee them their third Premier League title.

The Citizens will be expected to forget about the defeat to Liverpool and need to be on their toes, but will they? Guardiola's men will be hosting Liverpool next Tuesday in a do-or-die battle to qualify for the semi final. While City stand 16 points clear on top of the table above second placed United at 68, they might not prioritise wining a derby for a chance to reach the final four of Europe's elite.

The big question then, is what approach will Guardiola have towards this game? City have already registered a win against United earlier this season, so Guardiola may not be so focused on beating the club's rivals. The fans might have a different say on this. The club has only recently been considered as a giant and with the longstanding historic rivalry with United, fans would be more emotionally attached to this game.

City have a golden chance to let United experience the stigma of letting your rivals win the title. But on the other hand, their manager might have different priorities. He was employed by the owners to bring glory to the club, a part of which included bringing European success.
