Joleon Lescott admits that he is happy to rotate his place in the squad with other players to ensure Manchester City are successful this season. Sky Sports reports.
Lescott has appeared in all four of City’s matches so far this season, but has already had to make way for Matija Nastasic in last week’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.
He told the club’s official website: “The gaffer made it clear that everyone’s got a part to play this season, and it was the same last year.
“It worked for us last year and we need to stay focused on the job, and that’s to go into every game to win.”
Although the centre-back is firmly in Roberto Mancini’s plans, especially after his headed goal against Arsenal was almost enough for the reigning champions to win the game, only for Laurent Koscielny to strike a late equaliser on for the visitors.
It was certainly not a classic performance by City, but the 30-year-old feels they deserve credit for their perseverance and determination to get a result.
“We probably didn’t get going as much as we’d like but we showed another side of our game is resilience and unfortunately for us we conceded late on”, he added.
Manchester City begin their Capital One Cup campaign tomorrow when they host Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.
