Liverpool & Man City in fresh transfer battle as Citizens join £32m BuLi ace chase

Manchester City have joined Liverpool in the race for Schalke’s highly-rated teenage attacking midfielder Leroy Sane, according to reports from The Guardian.

The 19-year-old only made his senior debut for the Gelsenkirchen side last season but is already a first-team regular and has even been capped by reigning world champions, Germany.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with the youngster for some time, but reports now claim that Man City are also in the running for his signature.

Despite his age, Schalke want around £32m for their promising ace, and have been buoyed by the massive fees paid across Europe for young players in recent years – Manchester United’s potential £58m Anthony Martial deal is a prime example.

Liverpool are unlikely to be happy to hear that another transfer battle with their North West rivals beckons after losing Raheem Sterling to the Citizens following a bitter summer of negotiations with the club, the England international and his controversial agent, Aidy Ward.
