The Merseysiders currently lead the way, but the Sky Blues know that if they win their remaining three games – one of which they have in hand – their superior goal difference will put them ahead of Brandan Rodgers’ team.
It is a similar situation the one two years ago, when City claimed the title by virtue of their better combined attacking and defensive record than bitter rivals Manchester United.
Nasri believes being able to call on this experience gives them a major advantage over Liverpool:
“I think it’s crucial because we won it in the same way it’s looking this time,” he is quoted by The Mirror.
“Three games before the end of the season, United drew 4-4 against Everton and we beat Wolves, before playing United.
“It’s the same kind of thing that’s happening.
“Liverpool just lost a game at home, we won against Crystal Palace. Now we know if we win our games we’ll be champions.
“We have this experience but Liverpool don’t – and that can be good for us. So it could be the difference.”
City face a tricky trip to Everton later today, with the Toffees having beaten them on a number of occasions at Goodison Park over the course of the past few seasons.
They will then host Aston Villa and West Ham over the course of the coming week, while Liverpool take on Crystal Palace and Newcastle.
