Man City ace reveals he snubbed summer PSG transfer ahead of crunch CL clash

According to reports from Manchester Evening News, Kevin de Bruyne has revealed he snubbed transfer interest from Champions League opponents PSG last summer to move to Manchester City.

The former Wolfsburg star was one of Europe’s hottest properties during the 2015 summer transfer window with a number of the continent’s top clubs chasing his services, but he eventually agreed a club-record £55million move to the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens are set to face PSG in the Champions League quarter-final this evening and the Belgium international has revealed in the build-up that he could have signed for the Ligue 1 champions instead last summer – but feels he made the right choice in moving to the Premier League

As quoted by Manchester Evening News, he said; “There were contacts with PSG. We have talked a bit, but afterwards I decided to join Manchester City, as they were a better option. I’m really happy that I’ve taken the right decision. My family are happy here, I’m happy. All goes well. It was a personal choice.”

The attacking midfielder has been in fine form for City this term, despite missing a significant portion of the campaign through injury, claiming six goals and nine assists in 20 Premier League outings.

The Champions League clash at Parc de Princes kicks off at 19.45pm this evening.
