Man City ace to call on spectacular comeback in Barca clash

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has urged his side to use their 2011/12 Premier League-winning performance against QPR as they bid to get past Barcelona in their Champions League encounter.

The Sky Blues travel to the La Liga champions’ home stadium with a 2-0 disadvantage on the scoreline and without Martin Demichelis – who was red carded at the Etihad Stadium.

With Barca possessing a wealth of talent and big game experience, few are giving City much of a chance for their Spanish trip, but Kompany wants his side to repeat their heroics from the last game of the league-winning campaign to book a spot in the quarter-finals:

“The motivation and the belief is still there.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.

it’s in our own hands and that’s a good thing. We have to believe, not just for ourselves, but for the 5,000 fans we have coming here hoping we can do it.

“We have been here before. If anything should give you belief about chasing lost causes then it’s that day (City’s title-clinching win over QPR in 2012).”

City’s win against QPR in 2012 has gone down in Premier League folklore, as they came back from behind to beat the Super Hoops with a last minute goal from Sergio Aguero.

The three points gained were enough to move the Sky Blues ahead of bitter cross town rivals Manchester United in the hunt for the title.
