Manchester City have received an injury boost ahead of their match against Newcastle United as Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling are set for returns.
Both players have not featured for the club since their Champions League last-16 tie against Dynamo Kiev, but the squad have now reached the semi-finals.
Kompany has struggled all season with a recurring calf injury, while Sterling picked up a groin problem, but manager Manuel Pellegrini has now confirmed that the pair will be in the squad for tomorrow.
“Sterling and Kompany are both in the squad for tomorrow,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.
“Vincent will be an important help for the defence. It’s been a very important season and we have to keep fighting for important things.
“Sterling is coming back from an important injury we’ll see if he can play some minutes tomorrow. It depends on the way he returns.”
However, City will still be without Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, and David Silva as the trio will not feature given that they are still injured.
Samir Nasri, who only recently made his return, is now unavailable after picking up a knock to his thigh during the 3-0 victory over Chelsea.
Pellegrini will be targeting all three points given that his side are sitting third on the Premier League table, but are level on points with Arsenal in fourth.
