On asked whether the Italian will be there next season Gregucci simply said: ‘I do not know. Mancini is tied to a contract but at the end of the season, we’ll see.’ (The Sun). This adds to the speculation with pressure already on Mancini as City currently lie 15 points of leaders Manchester United and only left in one cup.
It is rumored that big spenders Monaco are lining up Mancini as a replacement for fellow Italian Claudio Ranieri. Mancini has already acted out in a press conference when asked about his job security this season, however his job fate may well lie in the hands of the owner Sheikh Mansour.
If Mancini does keep his job he will be looking to bolster a lackluster strike force with only 31 goals between four strikers.
With Mario Balotelli’s January departure, Gregucci has hinted that Napoli’s £60m forward Edinson Cavani could be a top summer target: ‘Cavani is important and clubs who aspire to be great must look at important players’.
