Man City consider massive £25m bid for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

In an exclusive reported by The Sun, Pep Guardiola is said to be preparing a massive bid to steal away a star from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

What’s the story?

Not content with defeating the Gunners 2-1 on Sunday, City are set to deliver another blow to Arsenal in the coming January transfer window.

The Sun reports that the Manchester club are ready to pay up to £25m to take the winger to the Etihad, with Arsenal struggling to keep their England star content.

They reckon Oxlade-Chamberlain is tired of being a substitute and that he could double the wage he currently earns in London.

It would be an incredible switch, especially if it goes through in January. Both sides are currently embroiled in a top 4 battle and exchanges of players mid-season in such a scenario is almost unheard of.

Worth the cash?

Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t having the best season of his career so far, making just 8 Premier League starts. He’s been a regular from the bench too though and it’s clear Wenger sees him as an impact player.

That’s likely to be valuable to City as well but Guardiola could well see him as first team starter given his preference for using pacy wingers so far at the club, with Wenger preferring a more measured playmaking system.

Although an exceptional dribbler, he isn’t known for goals and if he signs for the kind of money talked about, City fans would be hoping that could be added to his game.

He has scored just 20 goals in 169 appearances for the Gunners.
