Manchester City could launch a surprising move for Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera if Pep Guardiola takes over this summer as expected, according to the Metro.
The 44-year old Bayern Munich coach is widely reported to have agreed a deal to replace Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium next season.
Now, reports suggest that the Spanish coach is a huge fan of the 26-year old former Athletic Bilbao playmaker, having viewed him at close quarters during his time in charge of Barcelona.
United legend Gary Neville is also understood to be casting a keen over proceedings as he weighs up a move for his Valencia side.
Though he is a fan favourite, Herrera has struggled to regularly command a frequent starting berth under Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
Despite some excellent performances towards the back end of last season, the £28m man has failed to gel in the system deployed by the Dutchman at the Theatre of Dreams.
