Man City defender emerges as summer target for Valencia

Valencia are interested in a summer move for Manchester City star Martin Demichelis, according to reports from Super Deporte.

The 35-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular role under manager Manuel Pellegrini this season, and is set to run out his contract at the Etihad.

His current deal at the club expires at the end of the season, and the La Liga outfit looks to keen add the centre-back into their ranks this summer.

The Spanish side have been in very disappointing form this year as they sit 12th in the league table and will be forced to look for cut-price reinforcements during the upcoming transfer window.

Demichelis has found himself behind Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala in the pecking order at City and could now consider a move elsewhere.

Incoming manager Pep Guardiola is also set to bring in more defensive additions upon his arrival, with Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte and Everton’s John Stones both priority targets.

Demichelis has already featured 29 times in all competitions for his side this term, but has mainly been used as a substitute, so far scoring one goal in the process.
