Vincent Kompany made yet another mistake at the Camp Nou as Man City attempt to overturn a first-leg 2-1 defeat in tonight’s Champions League last-16 tie. Kompany was dispossessed on the edge of his own area as he casually strolled forward with the ball and was lucky to see Neymar’s shot only hit the inside of the post.
The Manchester City captain had been recently dropped by manager Manuel Pellegrini following a string of poor performances, including in the first-leg of tonight’s tie. Vincent Kompany was reinstated at the heart of Manchester City’s defence for the ill-fated trip to Burnley, as his side lost 1-0 to a team in the relegation zone.
The Chilean tried to pass of the benching his captain as an attempt to freshen things up but most in the English game read it differently. It may be that Kompany is destined for another spell on the sidelines after tonight’s game.
