Manchester City have now unfortunately officially confirmed that Leroy Sane has damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be unavailable for an extended period of time.
This comes in the worst possible period for both the player and the Citizens since the new Premier League season is finally set to get underway.
The injury arrived in the opening stages of the Manchester City’s Community Shield clash with Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.
And after thorough testing, the club officials have decided that Sane will have to undergo surgery in the coming week, as was also stated in their official statement.
Sane, however, is not the only player who’s gone through an injury turmoil as of late.
Benjamin Mendy is definitely one of the Citizens who knows his pain better than most. The Frenchman has also been extremely unlucky with injuries and has immediately taken to Twitter to comfort his friend and teammate.
My brother. 💙 I know this too well unfortunately.. It's a long and difficult path that I know you will go through. And I also know you will shine even brighter after that. Keep your head high as always. Love u bro 💙 @LeroySane19 pic.twitter.com/kFTD58WMrv

And he wasn’t the only one to send a heartfelt message as some other stars like Kevin De Bruyne did the same on their social media accounts.
De Bruyne was more to the point but also wished Sane a speedy recovery since he too knows how it feels to be sidelined by injuries. The Belgian suffered from a total of five injuries in 2018/19 which kept him away from the pitch for 29 games.
Champion you will be back soon. You know this team will stand beside you and help you pic.twitter.com/RbNN2RDzdO
