Man City expected to rival Man United for big transfer (not Pedro)

Valencia are sure that Manchester City will launch a late move to beat bitter rivals Manchester United to the signature of Nicolas Otamendi, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Argentine centre-back was one of Los Che’s star performers last term as they clinched Champions League qualification, but his future at the Mestalla has been unclear for much of the summer amid suggestions he’s ready to move on.

Valencia are set to leave him out of their upcoming European game, thus preventing him from becoming cup-tied, prompting fresh speculation.

United have been mooted as the side most likely to move for the commanding defender, but now reports claim that an offer from City is expected.

Although the Sky Blues possess a deep and talented squad, a new central defender is thought to be appealing to Manuel Pellegrini, who is keen to build on a Premier League-opening win at West Brom to guide the club to a third crown.

Otamendi has a release clause of £35m in his contract and it’s claimed that the Spaniards are open to the idea of cashing in to raise money for strengthening their squad.
