Man City face transfer battle

Napoli forward Edinson Cavani

Manchester City are now in a direct fight with Real Madrid over Edinson Cavani, according to the Sun.

The Napoli striker scored 36 goals in just 41 appearances for the Italian club, and looks set to cost £100million including wages.

Chelsea were interested in the Uruguayan, but recently pulled out of the race for his signature. This leaves City and Real Madrid to scrap over the striker, who comes with a £60million transfer price tag.

The English club are hoping to sweeten the deal by offering Edin Dzeko as part of the transfer for Cavani, who seems uninterested in a move to PSG. The club have begun talks with Napoli, and look to get Dzeko off their wage bill.

Cavani helped Napoli to second place in the Serie A table, but seems determined to leave the club this summer. But with both teams needing a new manager, the striker may wait to see who is in charge of each club before deciding on his future.
