Unsurprisingly, Bernardo Silva was excellent for Portugal against Luxembourg on Sunday.

We’ve come to expect brilliance from the Manchester City man over the past 12 months as his performances for the Premier League champions saw him included in the Team of the Season last term, and he was at his best for his national team this weekend.

The above stats show just how good Silva was against Luxembourg.

The midfielder completely ran the show in the European Championship qualifier as he set up the opening goal for Fernando Santos’ side.

Despite Portugal only winning 2-0 against a very weak outfit the Man City man was excellent as he played three key passes and won four duels, per Sofascore.

While the performance will have excited City fans as Silva showcased his class it will have also brought around some mixed emotions.

Silva playing so well at this time is rather annoying as he won’t be able to carry that form over to City’s next game as he’s been handed a one-match ban for his tweet about Benjamin Mendy earlier this year.

The Portugal international will miss City’s game against Chelsea next weekend, and the fact that he seems to be hitting form just before that match will undoubtedly frustrate many members of the fanbase as it seems that he will be sorely missed against Frank Lampard’s side.
