Much was made about Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s seemingly odd decision to drop forward Sergio Aguero for the game against Barcelona in the Camp Nou two weeks ago.
The fact the Sky Blues were ultimately beaten 4-0 didn’t help Pep’s cause, though it’s easy to forget that plan did look like keeping the Premier League side in the game against the Blaugrana.
Well, until Claudio Bravo did his things of course.
Still, there’s little doubting the fact the Argentine is indeed one of the master marksmen in the world and seeing him pit his wits against the La Liga champions is always a sight to behold.
After his two-goal haul against West Bromwich Albion over the course of the weekend, Guardiola has opted to recall the 28-year-old at the Etihad this evening.
Despite his standing as perhaps the club’s best ever player, the decision to hand him a starting berth tonight has provoked a reasonably divisive reaction amongst the Citizens on social media.
Not all seem to be convinced by his record in big games and have taken to Twitter to question the former Atletico Madrid man.
Surprisingly hopeful tonight, we need KDB, Aguero and hopefully a Kompany firing on all cylinders #MCFC
