Manchester City fans have not had to suffer much disappointment in transfer windows gone by, but lately, things have shifted.
In January, Pep Guardiola missed out on signing Alexis Sanchez as the Chilean chose Manchester United instead.
Recently, the club were thought to be closing in on the signature of Jorginho from Napoli, but he followed his manager Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea.
Following that collapse, suggestions have been made about who City should target to fulfil their number 6 role.
City Watch recently posed the idea of the North-West outfit moving for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara after it was reported by Bild that the Spain international is one of a handful of players on the chopping block at Bayern.
Alcantara is not naturally a defensive midfielder, but he has had to occupy the holding role at the Allianz Arena.
The 27-year-old – valued at £54m by Transfermarkt – generally plays in the centre of the park, but he has the skills and ability to drop back or push further forward.
In addition, Alcantara already has a relationship with Guardiola having worked under him at Bayern and Barcelona.
It would likely be an easy transition into the team, but some fans are not sold on the idea due to his poor injury record.
Others, though, are convinced that he would thrive at the Etihad Stadium.
On Reddit, a fan posted City Watch‘s suggestion, and supporters voiced their opinions.
