Man City favourite on verge of exit as Guardiola shake-up continues

Pablo Zabaleta has agreed personal terms with Roma and is expected to leave Manchester City to join the Serie A giants this summer, according to reports from Corriere dello Sport.

The 31-year-old has long been tipped to depart the Etihad Stadium before the start of the 2016/17 season, as new manager Pep Guardiola gears up for his debut campaign in the dugout.

Zabaleta, who has won two league titles and the FA Cup with the Citizens, is widely seen as a fans’ favourite at the club thanks to his hard-working style of play and tenacity, but he featured infrequently last term.

And reports claim that he’s now on the verge of leaving, with a contract having been agreed with Roma.

It’s expected that a deal will go through, with a knockdown fee needed to prise him from City’s grasp, as his contract moves towards its expiry.

Zabaleta has been capped 54 times at senior international level and can also play as a holding midfielder.
