Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is in advanced talks with Manchester City, reports the Sunday Express.
In the longest game of cat and mouse ever seen, it appears the Manchester club has finally landed their man. It’s public knowledge that Guardiola’s contract is up in the summer and he was unlikely to accept the offer to stay.
It’s for this reason Manchester City extended Manuel Pellegrini’s contract in pre-season, as they were hoping to end the constant speculation they were lining up Guardiola for the summer.
In recent weeks Guardiola’s name has been linked to the Chelsea role, which could have led to City stepping up their pursuit regardless of the risk for fresh rumours.
Now the drawn out courting has produced a positive result for Sheikh Mansour, who sees the Spaniard as the man to take the club to the next level. Short of winning the Champions League this year, it’s hard to see how Pellegrini could be chosen over Europe’s most decorated club manager.
Although it could take some work to win the fans over. Previously the Daily Star reported Guardiola preferred Old Trafford to the Etihad.
