Manchester City are prepared to beat Manchester United to the signing of Paul Pogba amid speculation that they are ready to table a £100million offer, according to reports from the Metro.
It is now believed that the City board are ready to back the club to the purchase of some extra summer reinforcements.
If City can find a way to make the proposed offer, it will break the transfer record currently held by Gareth Bale when he completed his £85.3million switch to Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
Pogba is already being tipped for an exit, with a bid of that amount set to easily persuade the Serie A leaders to agree to a deal.
Meanwhile, Manuel Pellegrini’s role as manager is still under heavy scrutiny, with the Chilean linked with an exit in recent months.
