Anyone who managed to stay awake for the first half of the Manchester City vs. Chelsea clash would surely have noticed the colossus at the back for the Sky Blues. We’re not talking about Vincent Kompany this time, but instead newbie, Eliaquim Mangala.
The Frenchman – a £32m buy from Porto over the summer – slotted straight into Manuel Pellegrini’s XI, looking at home against, arguably, the league’s best striker in the shape of Diego Costa. Have City got a partner fit to play alongside Vinny at last?
Mangala looks very impressive on his city debut so far

Mangala impressing so far on his #mcfc debut, muscular, mobile. Not a bad start given he’s building new c-b understanding with Kompany

So impressed with Mangala so far, great pace and seems to have fit in like he was born to play for City…

Mangala’s been rock solid so far. How we could’ve done with someone like him.
