Barcelona defender Gerard Pique admitted Manchester City may no longer ‘fear’ the Catalan giants, reports the Metro.
Uncertainty has crept into a Barcelona squad that was previously being hailed as the best in world football, after two years without winning the Champions League.
“Maybe they don’t fear us as before because in the last two years we didn’t win the Champions League,” Pique said.
“We can still be the best, but we have to show to the world we can do it.”
City have earned praise for their free-flowing attacking football under Manuel Pellegrini this season, with some drawing comparisons with the great Barcelona sides.
The La Liga Champions coach Gerardo Martino is also wary of the threat posed by Pellegrini’s side.
“I don’t think City are a mini-Barcelona or a mini any team,” Martino said.
“They are one of the greatest teams in the world.
“They have great Spanish players like [Jesus] Navas and [David] Silva, but it is not only Spanish players.”
