Man City plotting mega bid to win race for Chelsea target

Manchester City are ready to make a mega money offer for Paul Pogba at the end of the season, as they plot for life after Yaya Toure, according to reports from The Express.

The French midfielder – who spent some of his youth career with Manchester United – is widely seen as one of the world’s best holding midfielders at the age of 21, and has been attracting attention from Chelsea for some time.

Juventus recently moved to tie the starlet down to a new long-term deal, yet that has not deterred City chiefs, who are ready to cast off their UEFA-imposed spending shackles with a massive deal.

The Sky Blues are thought to be looking at life beyond Toure, with the 31-year-old rumoured to be a target for Ligue 1 heavyweights PSG.

Should the often criticised Ivorian be offloaded, Pogba is seen as the ideal man to step into the club’s midfield, with his playing style having already been compared to that of the Etihad Stadium vice-captain, as well as Arsenal idol Patrick Vieira.

The youngster is valued at around £50, and Juve have already confessed that the financial power of English football is beyond their limits.
