Man City ready to offer striker new deal

Manchester City are ready to offer striker Edin Dzeko a new contract, according to the Sun.

The Bosnian forward looked set to leave the Etihad last summer, after spending the majority of last season on the bench under former manager Roberto Mancini.

However, Dzeko has featured prominently under Manuel Pellegrini this season, and has fired 19 goals in all competitions this season.

Dzeko was a part of the Manchester City side that lost 3-2 to Liverpool on Sunday, but the 28-year-old believes the title race will go down to the wire, as it did the during their victorious 2011-12 campaign.

“It’s too early to say if Sunday’s result will decide where the title ends up because we still have six games to play and Liverpool and Chelsea both have four left,” the striker said.

“People talk about pressure and such like, but that doesn’t really matter – just who wins the most games between now and the end of the season.

“I firmly believe, like the last time we won the title, that it will go right to the wire despite our defeat at Anfield.”
