Manchester City are plotting to take their total summer spend past the £100m mark with talks regarding a £40m deal for Wolfsburg’s Kevin De Bruyne having been opened, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The Sky Blues have already spent over £60m to secure the signatures of stars such as Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph and Patrick Roberts with Financial Fair Play restrictions on the club having been eased.
And with mounting a genuine Premier League challenge Manuel Pellegrini’s aim for the coming campaign, De Bruyne is wanted.
Reports claim the Eastlands side have opened talks regarding a £40m move for the Belgium international with Wolfsburg following an amazing Bundesliga campaign in which the 24-year-old registered 20 assists – the highest total of any player in Europe’s five strongest leagues.
However, the BuLi giants are in no rush to sell their man, and are demanding closer to £50m for him.
De Bruyne joined the German side in 2014 from Chelsea after a difficult two years as a Blue.
