Man City reject enjoying life at new home

Wayne Bridge, Brighton Left BackWayne Bridge has announced that he wants his loan move to Brighton to become a permanent deal at the end of the season. The want-away left back has been on the books at Manchester City since his move in 2009 but has rarely featured in the Citizens first team, starting just 11 times over the past two and a half years at Eastlands.

Gus Poyet’s Brighton and Hove Albion are considered to be outside favourites for promotion, currently lying in 8th in the Championship. Bridge could be an ideal signing for the Seagulls should they achieve promotion. The Left back has a wealth of experience, making 315 Premier League appearances in his career, playing for Southampton, Chelsea, West Ham, Manchester City and Sunderland as well as earning 36 England caps.

The former England defender has played well for Brighton so far this campaign, and has netted twice already despite not scoring in a league game since the 2003/2004 season.

Bridge has said he is pleased to be part of a team again and moving to Brighton has reignited his desire for football.

“Coming here you want to make a good impression. There was a lot of doubt about me and whether I still want to play.

“It’s a difficult time, especially when you are not training with the first team and you don’t play week in, week out.

“Not being part of the team you kind of lose a love for the game and going in every day.

The 32-year-old is happy to be playing regular football, and wants to help take his new club forward.

“Now there has just been a big turnaround and I am enjoying every day. To know you are going to run out on the pitch on a Saturday is a big plus.

“I just want to do well for Brighton and hopefully progress into the Premier League with them” he added.
