Sergio Aguero has distanced himself from transfer speculation by stating that he will be a Manchester City player next season.
The Argentine striker – who is away with his country at the World Cup – has been heavily linked with both Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent weeks, with the La Liga duo both thought to be willing to pay the massive fee it would take to lure him away from the Premier League champions.
Los Blancos have been most strongly alligned with Aguero amid talk that they want either him or Luis Suarez to lead their attack, while Barca have been mooted as suitors as they set about a major summer reshuffle on the back of an underwhelming 2013/14.
But Aguero – who netted 28 goals for City last season – says that he has no intention of leaving the Etihad Stadium:
“There’s lots of talk about Real Madrid and Barcelona.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.
“It’s always the same every year, but the truth is that I’m going to stay at City.
“I’m very happy and I’m going to continue there.”
Aguero signed for City in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has been a key man at the club ever since.
