Man City target world-record move for Man United hero

Manchester City are ready to smash the world transfer record to snap up Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid if he elects to return to England, according to reports from The Sun.

The Portuguese winger recently won his second Ballon d’Or award on the bounce and is widely considered to be the best player on the planet, alongside Barcelona rival Lionel Messi.

Manchester United have been linked with several moves to re-sign their former hero – whom they sold to Real for a record £80m – but now local rivals City are in the hunt.

Reports claim that the Sky Blues have already had a £134m offer for the 29-year-old knocked back in the past, and the Etihad Stadium outfit’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, has hinted that he keeps in touch with Ronaldo’s agent every day:

“I ask Jorge about situations every day. I can ask him every day about Cristiano.” He said.

‘Ronny’ recently penned a new deal at the Bernabeu, but he has opened the door to a potential move away from the European champions in the future.
