The Wolfsburg attacking midfielder has emerged as one of European football’s most highly-rated players this season, with his 17 assists and nine goals in Bundesliga action a quite frankly staggering tally.
De Bruyne only joined the club last year, but his performances have already alerted a host of big teams, including United.
However, reports now claim that City are actually the favourites to nab the 23-year-old at the end of the season in a deal worth up to £45m.
Such a fee would mark a massive profit for the German giants, who paid Chelsea £18m last January.
De Bruyne spent two years at Stamford Bridge, but the majority of his spell was spent away from London on loan with Genk and Werder Bremen.
